Shelley Nicole is a vocalist, songwriter, musician, actress and leader of the band Shelley Nicole’s blaKbüshe. As band leader she has released three albums, she who bleeds…, The Quick & Dirty EP most recently, I Am American produced by legendary Living Colour guitarist, Vernon Reid. Shelley is also featured vocalist/percussionist in Burnt Sugar the Arkestra Chamber founded by writer/musician Greg Tate and has traveled the globe performing in venues from Los Angeles to Paris.
In the world of journalism, Shelley Nicole’s career in magazines spans over 25 years; writing for VIBE magazine and having served as research editor at publications including O, The Oprah Magazine, The New York Times Magazine, Vogue, Art Basel magazine and Condé Nast Traveler. Shelley Nicole also worked in syndicated radio covering hip-hop and R&B as well as hosting her own radio show at WRFB: Radio Free Brooklyn.
